Private Prisons: Commerce in Souls
If you heard that here in the Land of the Free, more people are in jail than any other country….2.3 million people…. most of them poor people of color….would you think the criminal justice system is racist? When you find out private corporations are building and operating prisons, profiting as long as a steady stream of poor people and immigrants fills prison beds, would you wonder about the ethics of monetizing human misery? Would it make you think about slavery? if you knew those companies were buying off politicians to write the criminal and immigration Laws that DEFINE who can be rounded up and forced into those beds…. and if you saw their stocks shoot through the roof, what would you do? Would you work for change? PRIVATE PRISONS: COMMERCE IN SOULS looks at what our society is willing to do to make a buck. We don't like what we see.
